Current Methods in Factor Analysis and SEM

A few years ago I wrote an article (Schmitt, 2011) in a special journal issue on statistical methods that I co-edited with Dan Sass on current methods in factor analysis and structural equation modeling (SEM). Factor analysis and SEM are the main statistical methods used for survey/scale development, so if building scales it is essential to understand these methods. This article gives a nice overview of recent methods along with an example. But, I’d like to give a little more detail along with the code as to how I carried out the example in the article. In the next blog post I will break this down into parts as I did in the article and hopefully this will be of some use to practitioners and researchers wanting to duplicate the results in the article.
